‘Twas 3 Weeks Before Christmas at Warren Whitney

‘Twas 3 weeks before Christmas, when all through the town

people wore masks that covered their frown.

The frown had begun way back in the Spring,

when a global pandemic changed everything.

They called it Corona, but unlike the beer,

It didn’t bring good times, It didn’t bring cheer.

Airplanes were grounded, travel was banned.

Borders were closed across air, sea and land.

As the world entered lockdown to flatten the curve,

the economy halted, and folks lost their verve.

Now it’s December and cases are spiking,

wave 2 has arrived, much to our disliking.

This virus is awful, this COVID-19.

Soon, thankfully, there’ll be a vaccine!

It’s true that this year has had sadness a plenty.

We’ll never forget the year 2020!

No one could go anywhere, they were in quite a fix,

All they could do was order food and stream Netflix.

Since the business world has been quite difficult, with news often insulting,

What we need now more than ever, is some good ole’ fashioned consulting!

When what to my wondering eyes did appear,

But a miniature sleigh and 8 tiny rein-deer!

Well, not really a sled, but a BMW soarin’,

Atop the convertible was none other than our own Scott Warren.

Now not to be outdone, in a sleek stylish jitney,

Was the ever-elegant and knowledgeable Katherine Whitney.

Where is your mask?  the call came from below,

No worries, they said, we’re doing this ALL on Zoom video!

The partners had been working hard all year, so it seems,

Now the time was right to introduce the rest of the team.

They beckoned and shouted, and called them by name:

“Now, HR! now, Finance! now Accounting and IT!

Help our clients fast — with some profound strategy!

You’ve all been very good this year; no need for lamentations!

Leading our clients through a maze of new regulations.

Distancing is still needed, we acknowledge with a groan,

But the good news is we helped close many a PPP loan!

The best gifts, we know, are not always tied in a bow,

Still who wouldn’t like some good ‘ole predictable cash flow?

But yet, you say, there is still quite a pall,

Now dash away those thoughts! Dash away all!

Tough times don’t last, but tough people do.

We are focused as ever on solving opportunities anew.

The future is quite bright, not just for a term,

Innovation and vision will outlast this terrible germ.

We are grateful for success from working with you clients.

Together we have conquered challenges formidable as giants!

While many have been toiling and unable to take vacation,

We thank you for joining us tonight for a libation!

Santa is not cancelled and neither is hope.

If we lean on each other, I know we can cope.

Scott and Katherine then chuckled in spite of themselves,

Knowing their team was working, as busy as elves.

But I heard them exclaim, ere they drove out of sight—

“Best wishes for the new year, and to all a good night!”
