Controller – Ukrop’s Homestyle Foods

Headquartered in Richmond, VA, Ukrop’s Homestyle’s Foods employs over 450 associates and serves Virginia and the surrounding region. The Controller is responsible for the finance, accounting, payroll, and vendor management functions. He/she will positively influence and effectively move the organization to the next level through thoughtful critical thinking and strategic insights. Summary Job Responsibilities and Requirements

1. Provides leadership and supervision to the finance, accounting, payroll, and vendor management areas through effective communication, coaching, training and development.
2. Oversees the accurate and timely dissemination of financial management reports including, but not limited to, internal and external monthly financial statements and annual audits and annual budgets.
3. Oversees the accurate and timely processing of accounts payable, accounts receivable, corporate income tax compliance, outsourced payroll, and vendor management.
4. Manages the budget development, implementation, reconciliation and reporting for annual budgets and long-term financial planning.
5. Creates, develops and analyzes managerial reports to improve the performance of the company and conducting ROI analysis to prioritize and direct investment to provide the best return.
6. Manages the development, implementation, monitoring and reporting of annual and long term financial practices that ensure efficient and successful delivery of resources to achieve operational goals.
7. Optimizes internal organization processes and infrastructure that will allow the company to continue to grow and fulfill its long-term goals.
8. With the leadership team, sets priorities and determining revenue plans and forecasting; expenditures for regular operations and exploring and implementing strategic growth opportunities.
9. Works closely with information technology to verify the integrity of systems, controls, processes and data, and enhance the company’s value.
10. Represents company in a professional manner to all customers, vendors, and internal personnel.
11. Promotes and adheres to the company’s mission, vision and values along with policies and applicable laws in a fair and equitable manner.
12. Other assigned duties or special projects, as needed.

Key Qualifications, Skills, and Abilities

1. Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related area.
2. Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certification.
3. MBA preferred.
4. Minimum 10 years of proven successful accounting / finance leadership experience managing a department and staff; modeling and putting into practice team building, conflict resolution and human resources development.
5. Hands on experience in budgeting, managerial accounting, financial management, benefits optimization, and relationship management.
6. Successful experience in leading change, innovation and process improvement including ERP / system implementation(s).
7. Excellent communication skills including written, meeting facilitation and presentations.
8. Experience in consumer products, grocery and / or retail industry needed; family owned and operated company experience a plus.
9. Proficiency with Microsoft Office products, accounting and reporting systems (e.g., QuickBooks and ERP), payroll and timekeeping systems and other related systems.
10. Successfully pass pre-employment screening.

General Work Environment

1. Work in an office environment using laptop, telephone, etc. at a desk.
2. Minimal overnight travel.
