Cyndy A.G. Lowery


Cyndy Lowery is a director and an owner of Warren Whitney. Primarily working with clients requiring accounting and financial management, she offers more thanĀ 25 years of experience in both public accounting and private industry.

Management Experience:

Cyndy generally takes the role of controller or operations manager with her clients. She has helped her clients establish a budgeting process and evaluate operating strategies. Cyndy has implemented changes in procedures and policies both to improve the quality of customer service and to reduce overall cost. She has developed financial information packages and met with lenders on her clients’ behalf to obtain favorable financing. Additionally, she routinely meets with her clients’ other professional advisors, including attorneys, accountants, consultants, and bankers, to ensure that the appropriate information is communicated.

Cyndy works with her clients to design and implement the appropriate systems of internal controls. She then monitors the systems to ensure that they meet the needs of the client without creating unnecessary work or paper. She works to ensure the timely and accurate reporting of internal management information as well as monthly financial statements. She also works closely with the management team, helping them interpret the numbers.

Prior to joining Warren Whitney, Cyndy was the accounting manager and manager of finance & planning at Omni Products International, Inc. She was responsible for designing, documenting, and implementing systems of internal controls for every function within the manufacturing organization. Her responsibilities also included performing internal audits, coordinating the external audit, managing international cash transfers and banking relationships, preparing and negotiating Import and Export Letters of Credit, reporting information to the parent company, and evaluating and selecting insurance coverages and policies. She prepared the executive payroll and administered executive benefits. She also served as Interim Human Resources Manager for six months while managing the accounting department.

Before joining Omni Products, Cyndy worked in the Big Six accounting firm of Deloitte & Touche. She was a part of the merger of Touche Ross, first with the Richmond firm of Gary, Stosch, Walls & Company, and then with Deloitte, Haskins and Sells. As a senior auditor, Cyndy planned and supervised multiple audit engagements of organizations of under $1 million to more than $400 million. Her clients included small, medium, and large organizations, including farming cooperatives, commercial real estate developments, not-for-profits, county governments, manufacturers, and retailers. During the audit process, she developed recommendations to client management regarding technical accounting and reporting issues, and improvement or enhancement of internal controls and accounting and reporting systems. Cyndy also instructed classes in financial statement analysis and reporting on the results of operations.

Education and Professional Associations:

Cyndy attended Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University for two years where she was a Marshall Hahn merit scholar, and she holds a BS in Accounting from Virginia Commonwealth University. She is a CPA with over 400 hours of Continuing Professional Education, and she is a member of the Epsilon Zeta Chapter of Beta Alpha Psi, a national honorary accounting society. Cyndy has served for two terms on the Hanover Business Council Board of Directors. She is currently a member of the Advisory Council to the board and serves on the Business Visitation Committee. Cyndy previously served as treasurer and chair of the Government Committee.
